Flourish Friday - Moleskine Journal

I was nearing the bottom of my inkwell.  As my longtime followers know, I like to use that bottom-of-the-barrel ink in my Moleskine journal or for random pieces.

This time it was destined for my Moleskine.

Calligraphy Flourish Friday - Moleskine Journal

An entry in my Moleskine Journal. Watercolor, pencil, technical pen, walnut ink and a Zebra G nib.  It's been nearly TWO years since my last entry in this journal. (SEE HERE)

Wow.

That is just confirmation that I am on the right track about making some changes in my schedule.

I use to love working in my various journals.

Flourish Friday - Introverts

I haven't worked in my Moleskine journal since August, and it was nice just to take a break and work from the heart.  A good friend -who just also happens to be my sister - urged me to get the book "Introverts in the Church" by Adam S. McHugh. The subtitle is "Finding Our Place in an Extroverted Culture" and although I've just completed the first chapter, I have to say it has been a tonic to my soul.  This journal spread incorporates a passage from the first chapter. I used various pens, sumi, and paper scraps from other projects.  You can read more about the book at Amazon by clicking here.

I made these cards after reading/viewing this post at sweet Lori Vliegen's blog. These cards are such fun to make!  The broad edge lettering was done with a Speedball 2 and the pointed lettering with an Esterbrook 355.  I used Moon Palace Sumi throughout.

We have been undergoing some tech problems lately, but I think we will get it worked out soon. I apologize for not getting around to see what fabulous things everyone has been up to.

Flourish Friday September 11

Thanks everyone for your kind comments yesterday about the Trust In the Lord piece. I updated the post for those interested in the embossing. Proverbs 3:5-6 is a treasured promise! It's one of many promises I hope to letter. Yesterday, I played and flourished around a bit in my Moleskine journal - The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Flourish Friday June 5th

I had just a bit of time to play in my Moleskine last night.  I don't think the quote and lettering style work well together, but oh well.  I like the flourishy border. I tried playing with the 0s. I'm a calligraphy geek, I guess.  I liked the o in this post by Lori Vliegen of Elvie Studio.  (Which I just now "got" that Elvie is LV for Lori's initials. Obviously, I am not the brightest scribe in the scriptorium.) 

I think this is a great quote.  Before John Wooden was the Wizard of Westwood, he was a Boilermaker! I admire the way he's lived his life, and I believe he's a good role model.  If you click on his name, it will take you to his official site and you can learn more about Coach Wooden.  Happy Flourish Friday everyone!

Moleskine Play

I needed to take a few hours break from wedding work.  I've kept journals off and on since I was in junior high, but only began keeping "art journals" since about 1999.  You can see more of my art journals here.  Every year I list as one of my goals to work more consistently in my various art journals, but it's hard to do when your work space and play space are the SAME space.  It felt good to clear a spot and play this morning, although I see I dated it two days from now. I must be looking forward to the weekend!
