Flourish Friday - IAMPETH Envelope Exchange

©Jane Farr Calligraphy & Design LLC

I participated in the annual IAMPETH envelope exchange and have received some incredible envelopes.  One I received did not have a return address, so I am unable to thank the person directly. It was a stiff board lettered in Weaver style lettering - beautiful! Thank you Anonymous!
Above are the envelopes I sent.
(I removed parts of the address to protect the victims...)

Happy Flourish Father's Day to all the dads out there!

  2. Jane- your envelopes are beautiful. Actually all of your work is beautiful. I can't recall how I found your blog but I am glad that I did. Having done calligraphy as a little kid, I finally signed up with our local calligraphy society to get back into it.

Now I am curious, does the US Postal Service actually deliver those envelopes? Or do you re-package them? I always thought that addresses needed to be plain to pass through digital eye-readers for mail sorting.

    Thanks

  3. Oh this is gorgeous!!! Love them, Jane. I've never dared sign up for one of these... I'm guiltily sitting on a beautiful envelope another calligrapher wrote for me about two years ago, still trying to get my spencerian up to his standard before I dare reply!

I love the layout of your envelopes too - I should try and create something so imaginative - there's a project for the weekend!

Wishing my name was Sultan of Script.

  6. Jane,
Once again, your calligraphy makes my heart skip a beat!!! I'm SO envious of the recipients of your envelopes! We'll have to do our own envelope exchange, ok?!?!? xoxo

  7. Thanks everyone for your lovely comments!

To answer Alison's question whether the USPS will deliver such an envelope, the answer is Yes! The most important thing is readability of the zip code and street address. However, I have found that envelopes addressed with metallic ink or envelopes done on dark papers may take a day or two longer to be delivered. Alison, I am so glad to hear you have rekindled your interest in calligraphy!
