I have been practicing Engrosser's Script from Bill Lilly's book. (Update: If you would like to purchase Bill's book, please visit Paper & Ink Arts. Bill no longer has any of his books. Brenda Broadbent of P&I has the last 50 remaining books for sale. You can visit P&I Arts, search and shop online by clicking here.) Here I am trying my hand at flourished majuscules (capital letters). Obviously, I have much room for improvement! Also, I see a giant river of space between the H & I down through the L & M. Blah! Back to the drawing board....maybe this time with a more flexible nib. These forms seem rather anemic.
Put a little flourish in your Friday. Have a great weekend!
Stunning! I am always in awe when I see your work!

Jane, your capitals are lovely. One of my goals this winter was to practice my copperplate but I have not. I so appreciate all the time you put into your letterforms. Good for the world.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Makes me want to put my broad edge away for awhile and practice something with a little dance to it! Thank you for your inspiring blog.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteJane, this is beautiful. I, too, have been working from Bill's book and video. I was suppose to take a class from him when my dog became ill and I had to cancel.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate how difficult it is to get all those caps on one page! ... and you have done an amazing job at accomplishing this!
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
All my best,
Dana
Well done Jane!!!!!! They are looking beautiful! Bill's Capitals are not easily accomplished. Love what you did with the letter X! I think his captial O is one of the hardest to do well and yours looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteBig Hug!!
Heather
Not Anemic at all!! Very nice! It looks so spontaneous and happy!
ReplyDeleteSimply awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThese are not bad at all :)
WOW, Jane this is beautiful. We calligraphers are so hard on ourselves. As Lori says it really does take blood, sweat, tears and.... years! This is stunning.
