Calligraphy Flourish Friday - Sue

Regarding last week's post. Yes. Of course, you're right -  creating Valentines in January is rather proactive. As those readers who have followed A Place to Flourish for any length of time realize, writing and grammar are not my strong suit.  What I was trying to say was that I procrastinate getting things loaded into my Etsy shop. I still have a handful of Valentines to load into my shop.  It's the process of taking photos, uploading them, writing descriptions, etc. that I put off.  I can usually find something else to do. :)

This past week has been a difficult one. Tom's sister, Sue, died very unexpectedly.  We soldiered our way through the arrangements and the funeral in Ohio, but now that we are back home, the sadness is really starting to sink in.  I was thinking of her last night, and decided to letter her name. I used a 6 Automatic Pen and walnut ink.  A big drip hit the paper, and as I lifted the paper to wipe up the mess underneath, the "e" ran.  I guess it's like a teardrop and rather fitting. I went back in with gold gouache and a Hunt 22 for the flourishes on the "S".

Once I get caught up on my workload, I look forward to seeing what all my friends in Blogland have been up to.  I know that will lift my spirits!! :)

    What a perfect way to ease your sadness. It's tough to lose someone suddenly. Rev 21:4 is my go to verse.
    I have the same procrastination issues with Etsy. I don't enjoy the upload process and explaining everything and typing it all. grrrr

    So sorry to hear of your loss, Jane. I can sense the sadness in your work, and yet the gold filigree expresses the beauty of her life. It's beautiful.

    Such a touching, poignant piece you have created in Sue's memory. It is strange how things like that happen - the teardrop. I think it all has meaning.

    Jane, I am so sorry to hear about Sue. I know that you both are still in shock since it was so sudden. I will be saying a prayer for you and Tom. The Sue you wrote is beautiful and I love the tear drop. It was suppose to be there. Sending love to you.

    Prayers of comfort and peace in this time of sorrow. We are made to be eternal creatures, so death always seems so wrong. It was the only time Jesus wept, when he saw the sorrow of Lazarus' sisters and friends. He knows your sadness and longing, and will comfort.
