Graduation Quotes - Jeremiah 29:11

I cannot believe Rachel will be graduating from Purdue in May!  Tom and I are so proud of her.  It is exciting to watch her as she prepares for entry into the real world.  I did this piece with her in mind.  The lettering was done with a Zebra G and Moon Palace Sumi.  Using Photoshop, I layered it on top of a watercolor I did in a Jacqueline Sullivan workshop.  I am going to make non-watermarked prints of this piece available for sale. Contact me if you're interested.  You can find my email address by clicking on the "View My Complete Profile" link to the right.

Today is a happy day.
 Happiness #1:
I get to have lunch with California calligrapher Jody Meese!!  She is in Indy to see her son compete in two events at the NCAA D-3 Swimming and Diving Championships...Go Mason!!  Jody has a wonderful, calligraphy blog. Check it out by clicking here.

Happiness #2:
Pam Skora, a calligrapher from Ohio, will be staying with us this weekend!! We are both attending Rosemary Buczek's "The Illuminated Letter" workshop sponsored by the Calligraphy Guild of Indiana

Birds of a feather flock together?
Lovers of the pen flourish together!

Happy Flourish Friday!

  7. Hi Jane!
GORGEOUS lettering for Rachel!!! I am certain she will be SO pleased with it and treasure it for a lifetime, rightly so!
And will you do me a favor? Tell Jody that I might have a serious meltdown if I go to her site to see her gorgeous lettering, and see her comment that she is a "relative newcomer to calligrapy" even one more time!!! I've visted Jody's site before and am blown away by this girl's talent!!! I think there's something wrong with me, and I think she and you both are much too modest! :D
I mean this will great admiration for you both!!! :D
    Have fun together!

    2. Kathy, you make me laugh! Here's the thing: you get to a certain age, and ANYTHING you've done for less than, say, a quarter-century, qualifies as late in life! Anyway, thanks for the kind words and stay in touch.
